This summer, Gregory Kunde is officially making another big move in his career. You’ve heard Gregory Kunde on the opera stage, but now you have the chance to hear him as he goes back to his roots and reinvents songs from the best of the American song repertory.
Tenor Gregory Kunde is thrilled to be debuting another Britten role this season. This fall, Vienna will present Billy Budd, Britten’s sixth stage work and his second “grand” opera (after Peter Grimes). Written while Britten was living in Craig House in Aldeburgh, the opera is based on Melville’s novella of the same title.
Several years ago, political writer, journalist, and opera afficionado Jose Luis Jimenez approached Gregory Kunde about writing a book on his career. Greg was flattered, but didn’t really believe that the project would really materialize. Much to his surprise and delight, however, Jimenez was serious and immediately began to interview Greg, collecting information and anecdotes to fill the book.
