Another busy season in 24-25
The 2024-2025 season kicks off with Kunde’s signature role in Verdi’s Otello in Dresden.
While performances wrap up in Dresden, Kunde will be working on a debut for the Vienna Staatsoper in their October/November production of Britten’s Billy Budd. The tenor has been learning the role of Captain Vere over the last few months, and is looking forward to the challenge of this emotional and cerebral role.
Taking a break from staged opera, Kunde will sing at the Puccini Gala in Malta in mid November with soprano Erika Grimaldi. The concert will feature arias and duets from the composer’s rich operatic works.
Ever the ambassador for the future of opera, Kunde will stop in Milan for a week of master classes at La Scala’s Accademia. The tenor has appeared here regularly, working with students as they prepare for professional careers in performance.
The busy tenor will travel directly to Gran Canaria where he will appear in concert with the Filarmonica de Las Palmas as guest artist.
Bolognese audiences will be treated to performances of Kunde as Canio in I Pagliacci at the end of December.
The new year begins with a return to Rome for a reprise of Tosca and the role of Cavaradossi for Kunde.
The tenor will travel to the Far East, starting with a concert in Tokyo with his pianist and arranged John G Smith. The pair will appear in concert in Bucheon, Korea and there are plans for additional jazz concert dates during this trip to Asia and beyond.
After another week of master classes at the Academia at La Scala, Kunde will settle in Hamburg for performances of another debut as Dick Johnson in Puccini’s Fanciulla del West. This US born tenor is excited to have an opportunity to portray a uniquely American opera character.
Kunde will sing the Verdi Requiem with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester of Berlin, and travel on to Parma where he will revisit a favorite role in a new production of Puccini’s Andrea Chénier.
And finally, back to Berlin, and Kunde will continue in the title role as the revolutionary Andrea Chenier.
